longkorn  University and gave a
lecture on “The  International
Face of the American Research
University” at the Faculty of
Engineering,   Chulalongkorn
University. Later on President
Mote met with   Prof. Dr.Thienchai
Kiranandana, President of Chula-
longkorn   University, to discuss 
and exchange academic
experiences followed by the
signing of the memorandum of
agreement between A. James 
Clark School of Engineering,
University of Maryland and the
Faculty of Engineering,
Chulalongkorn University.

hands in Charity Golf Competition
to raise   funds  for  charitable 
activities.The University  of 
Maryland  Alumni Club (Thailand
Chapter) organized the first UMAT
- Charity Golf Cup’99 on August  
17, 1999, at  Vintage  Golf Course,
where Dr. Adisai Bodharamik
the Club’s President, presided
over the   opening  ceremony 
while  other Club committee
members, such as Mr.  Sudhitham 
Chirathivat,  Vice President , and
General  Teerawat Putamanonda,
Advisor, joined in the game.
               Such charitable golf
competition was hosted by Thai
UM Alumni Club with the aim to
raise funds for the Club to support
academic and charitable
activities. The game is a stroke
play of 18 holes , divided into 3
flights:

abubull2.gif (94 bytes) Flight C  with Handicap 19-24
Around 86 Alumni,or 19 teams, 
the  golf joined competition.
          The  Club   gained  generous
support for gifts and lucky draw
prizes for capable golfers and
lucky winners  from our  alumni 
and corporate sponsors.Major  
contributors   include : Dr.Adisai
Bodharamik, the Club’s President,
who contributed big prizes for
“Longest Drive”and"Nearest Pin "
Mr.Sudhitham Chiratiwat, Dr.
Wiboonkiet  and  Ms.Suprabha
Moleeratanond, and Mr.Prasong
Limsirichai,who contributed gifts
for the lucky draw.  Corporate
sponsors that must be  mentioned
are Thai Airways International Ltd.,
Central Patana PCL and Jasmine
Smart Shop Co.,Ltd. No golfer  
was lucky enough to win the
hole-in-one prize - 10 Baht
weighted gold.
                  Umat Charity Golf Cup
successfully achieved its
objective with the help and
support from our lumni : Mr. Kosit
Panpiemras,General Teerawat
Putamanonda,Mr.Sudhitham
Chirativat, Dr.Woraphat Arthayukti,
Mr. Prasong Limsirichai,
Mr.Prayoon Yongsuvimol,
Dr. Ampol Mitrevej, members,and organizations that sponsored this
charitable event.
    The Club will be used for running
upcoming socially charitable
projects as stated in the
objectives.The Club will
continuously report on the
progress of the Club’s activities.

(UM), the United States on the
occasion of their visit to Thailand.
The objectives of this visit are
to bring close ties and  to explore
cooperation between thai alumni

On April 25 2001, University of Maryland Alumni Club (Thailand Chapter) led by Dr.Wiboonkiet Moleeratananond, the registra and Dr. Yodhin Anavil, the activity and reception committee of the club, had another chance to welcome Dr.Daniel Clayton Mote, President of University of Maryland, and his wife Mrs. Mote together with the delegates from the University who were Dr. Chuan Sheng Liu, Professor of Physics and Director of the Institute for global Chinese Affairs, Mr. Mark Furuyama, Development Office of International Affairs, Mr.Saul Sosnowski, Director of International Programs and of the Latin American Studies Center, Professor, Department of Spanish and Portuguese.

In this occasion, Dr. Mote paid a courtesy call on H.E. Sutham Saengprathum, Minister of University Affairs at the Ministry of University Affairs to exchange ideas and experiences on education of  Thai and the U.S. universities. After that, Dr. Mote gave a lecture on the topic of “ University, Government, Industry Partnership : Lighting the Pathway to the Future.” to the deans and high-ranking academic executives which received warm welcome.


In the evening, at the Sofitel Central Plaza Hotel, the club held an annual meeting for year 2001, followed by MOU signing ceremony between University of Maryland Alumni Club (Thailand Chapter) and University of Maryland college Park for promoting educational cooperation between UM and the club. Later, the welcome reception dinner for Dr.Mote, his wife and delegates was hosted by the club with the participation of a number of  alumnus.

abubull2.gif (94 bytes) On 12 July 2002, UMCP Club, Thailand, held the 2nd Charity Golf Competition to 
raise funds for charitable activities of the club at the Vintage Golf Course, Bangna led by 
Khun Sudhitham Chirathivat, Vice President of the club. The game started at 12.00  
(Gun shot). Other alumnus who joined the event were Dr. Yodhin Anavil, M.L. Anong 
Nilubol,  Mrs.Annie Skunasingh and Dr. Wiboonkiet Moleeratanond.

 

 
At about 5 p.m. the game was finished and the golfers enjoyed dinner together. Khun    
Sudhitham Chiratiwat presided over the awards presenting ceremony. Also M.L.Anong 
Nilubol, Mrs. Annie Skunasingh and Dr. Wiboonkiet Moleeratanond presented the awards to 
the winners including the prizes of " Longest Drive" and "Nearest Pin" . More fun was that the 
lucky golfers in the party received the prizes from the lucky drawn. The competition 
sucessfully ended with enjoyment and happiness.

 
 
The fund gained from this competition will be used to organize the charitable activities of the 
club which are aimed to contribute the maximum benefit to both the club itself and society.
