President Mote and UMCP Delegates Visited Thailand on April 2001.

 

 
On 25 April 2001, President Mote visited Thailand to have a meeting with the alumnus and develop new opportunities of academic cooperation with Thai institutes.
 
In the morning, President Mote and his team, Professor Chuan Sheng Liu, Professor of Physics and Director of Institute for Global Chinese Affairs, Mr.Mark Furuyama, Development Officer for the Office of International Affairs and Mr.Saul Sosnowski, Director of International Programs and of the Latin American Studies Center,  Professor, Department of Spanish and Portuguese, University of Maryland paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Mr. Sutham Saengprathum at Ministry of University Affairs to discuss and exchange academic experiences. After that President Mote gave a lecture on the topic of “University Government, Industry Partnership: Lighting the Pathway to the Future.” Participants were deans and high-ranking academic representatives from national government and private universities.
   

In the evening, University of Maryland Alumni Club (Thailand Chapter) signed Memorandum of Understanding with University of Maryland. The MOU mainly aimed to encourage cooperation in education and research laboratories. The cooperation enhances the benefits of the alumni as a whole and serve the Club’s role in develop human resources in facilitating study in tertiary level.

 

After that, the welcome reception dinner for President Mote, his wife and delegates from UM hosted by the club was held at the Sofitel Central Plaza Hotel. The party was full of joy with many alumnus participated marking a forwarding step in building a stronger relationship between the club and UM.
